Alison Buchanan Soprano

British soprano Alison Buchanan, is a graduate of the Curtis Institute and the Guildhall School in London. Alison enjoys a busy international career in opera, concert, recital and chamber music.  A winner of the Luciano Pavarotti, Washington International and Kathleen Ferrier and Maggie Teyte competitions she has made debuts at the New York City Opera (singing the role of Bess in Porgy & Bess and Elvira in Don Giovanni), San Francisco Opera, the Opera Company of Philadelphia, Glyndebourne, the Royal Opera House, the Los Angeles Opera (in I Pagliacci alongside Placido Domingo and directed by Franco Zefferelli) and Michigan Opera Theatre. She has performed under the baton of Sir. Colin Davis, Sir. Simon Rattle and Donald Runnicles to name but a few with orchestra's such as the London Symphony Orchestra, The Royal Philharmonic, the Philippines philharmonic, the Israel Kibbutz Orchestra, the Macedonia Philharmonic, the BBC Concert Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic.  Most recently Alison made her Carnegie Hall Debut,  performed at Sadler's Wells in London in the Opera Koanga by Delius to mark the bicentenary of the abolition of Slavery in England, and returned to New York City Opera for Margaret Garner. Future engagements include concerts at the Cheltenham festival a return to Israel for a national tour with the Israel Kibbutz Orchestra and recitals in Oakland California and Porgy & Bess in Spain, France and Germany.
