Rejoice in the pleasures of springtime! Put away those burly jackets, take a minute to smell the freshly-blossoming flowers, and come hear the Ritz Chamber Players as they return for an exciting spring program featuring Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet in A Major along with works by Mendelssohn, Bonds and James Lee III.

Energy, enthusiasm and wind power! These words sum up the lively spring concert that includes the Mozart Quintet in A Major for Clarinet and Strings, K. 581. Mozart wrote beautifully for woodwinds and his music for winds - which includes numerous serenades, divertimentos and other works - was much admired by the young Beethoven. Mozart gives the clarinetist ample opportunity for virtuoso display while the strings merely accompany it, but there are also many passages of true ensemble playing where the melodic line moves easily between clarinet and strings. This not-to-be-missed program includes the Jacksonville premiere of a fresh and modern string quartet by this season’s composer-in-residence, James Lee, III.
